While every area will vary some these are the main permits required in order to be able to get the building permit.<\/p>\n<p>Well and Septic Permit<br \/>\nDriveway Permit<br \/>\nSoil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Permit<br \/>\nZoning Permit<\/p>\n<p>Generally once these permits are obtained they will issue a building permit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 align=\"CENTER\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Permits Needed to Get Building Permit<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><b>(Cost vary for each county and township)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Well and Septic Permit<\/span> \u2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-size: large;\">In order to get septic permit a site evaluation needs to be done. &#8211; Quite often this will have already been done, but if not it&#8217;s a cost to figure in.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Costs To Consider for the Site Evaluation (Perk Test):<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Health Department<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Excavator to have Backhoe to dig holes for perk<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">If in the city or where Water and Sewer is available then the tap fees will need to be paid and the paper work from them will need to be provided.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Driveway Permit<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><b> \u2013 <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Need to make sure of clearance on road. Can&#8217;t have drive coming out on a hill where you don&#8217;t have proper site distance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Permit<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><b> &#8211; <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Most local SESC permitting agencies require a permit when the project involves an earth change activity within 500 feet of a lake or stream or when the project will disturb an area greater than one acre in size. However, some local SESC agencies require the permit regardless of size or location. Contact your local SESC agency.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"DISC\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8220;Earth change&#8221; means a human-made change in the natural cover or topography of land, including cut and fill activities, which may result in or contribute to soil erosion or sedimentation of the waters of the state. Earth change does not include the practice of plowing and tilling soil for the purpose of crop production.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"DISC\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">An authorized public agency, approved by the MDEQ, pursuant to Part 91, is exempt from the requirement of obtaining a permit for an earth change but must notify the appropriate enforcing agency, in advance, of the earth change activity.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><b><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Page Explaining at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/statelicensesearch\/0,4671,7-180-24786-245158--,00.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/statelicensesearch\/0,4671,7-180-24786-245158&#8211;,00.html<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Zoning Permit<\/span> \u2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-size: large;\">(Requires having the above permits)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Many townships have their own zoning ordinances and can vary with the area the property is located at.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Land division approval, if required.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Soil Erosion (Act 45 1) , if required. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">If Drain Commissioner services are required, the Road Commission may refer the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Application filled out.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">This should include a plot plan scaled with size and location of structures on the property Including distances to lot lines, streets, roads, and property lines. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Legal description of the property <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Well and septic approval by the County Health Department.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Two copies of your plans &#8211; which should include: <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Floor plan. Include all room sizes, door and window sizes, and location.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Specification Sheet or Cross-Section Drawing. Including size, type and quality (grade) of materials to be used.
